Startup

Adding apps to start at Startup

There's a better way to place things under startup which won't clutter up your Start menu.

Just add a key referring to the file in the following Registry location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

This is the startup method used for advanced programs like MS-Office and ICQ. If there's something that starts up that you don't want to, this is probably where it is.

Choosing which apps to work at Startup

Tired of seeing applications fire up on startup but you don't see them in the Startup folder to delete? Here is a trick for you to decide which programs (if any) you want to startup when Windows is booted.

  1. Click on Start > Run
  2. Type the word msconfig
  3. The last tab shows all the apps that startup when Windows is booted. If you find a program you don't want to start up, simply uncheck the box by it.

Click OK when you're done.

Reboot afterwards.
