Turn
off autoplay on a CD drive forever
Go to your Control Panel and open up System. Go to the Device Manager tab and click on the "+" sign beside CD-ROM. Double-click on the CD drive that you want Autoplay disabled on. Click on the Settings tab and uncheck the box Auto insert notification.
Control Panel items in the Start Menu If you want to be able to access any Control Panel item directly, you can make a cascading Control Panel item on the Start Menu. Right-click on the Start button and select Explore. Then, in the right-hand window, right-click and select New->Folder. Name the folder exactly as you see below: Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} The name before the . can be anything you want, but after the . the rest must be exactly as it appears above. Quick way to change Display Properties . . . Right-click anywhere on the desktop and select "Properties" to get into the Display Properties control panel applet. Don't name that tune! If you are sick of Windows 95 always automatically playing your music CD or installing your apps, hold down the SHIFT key as you close the CD-ROM drive. This automatically disables the AutoPlay sequence. System Control Panel . . . Alt-Double-click on the "My Computer" icon to display the system control panel. |
